Meet Tanya! Tanya Russell, RN, BSN, originally from Reading, Pennsylvania, has spent the past decade living in Delaware County. With 15 years of experience as a bedside nurse, Tanya has been deeply involved in the world of organ and tissue donation, working on both the pre-procurement and post-transplant sides of patient care. Her exposure to the donation process over the years sparked a lasting fascination and deep respect for the incredible gift given by donors and their families. This passion ultimately inspired her to seek a new role that would allow her to stay within the medical field while exploring this area further, leading her to join AltruVision.
Tanya feels warmly welcomed and supported by her new team. She is enthusiastic about being part of an organization that helps coordinate the gift of sight, whether it’s giving someone the ability to see for the first time or restoring their vision. Outside of work, Tanya’s life is centered around her 9-year-old son Blake and his ever-changing interests, which currently include airplanes, firetrucks, trains, and frequent visits to Chick-fil-A. She also enjoys quiet, cozy days at home with her 80-pound bulldog Sarge, her snarky cat Butterscotch, and a comforting cup of Wawa coffee.
Meet Dom! A native Philadelphian, Dominique “Dom” Savage pursued a career in eye banking due to her preference for hands-on work over computer-based tasks, transitioning from a previous role in a related field. At AltruVision, her typical day as an eye banking technician involves training phases initially, progressing to responsibilities such as tissue recoveries, documentation, and familiarizing herself with team dynamics during shift changes. The most meaningful aspect of her work lies in the profound impact of cornea donations on recipients, knowing that donors’ families find solace in the success of their loved ones’ contributions.
One poignant experience for Dom involves reading letters from both donors’ families and recipients, which resonates deeply with her personal history of her child benefiting from a similar donation at a young age. Beyond work, Dom enjoys a diverse range of activities, including hunting, fishing, boating, automotive projects with her children, camping, and cooking together—an active lifestyle that complements her dedication to eye banking and community service.
